Consultation & Advocacy Promotion Service- CAPS
Description
In Edinburgh, CAPS provides COLLECTIVE ADVOCACY.
This means that we work with groups of service users to ensure that they have a say in the way services are planned, provided and evaluated. We also enable service users to campaign for services that meet their needs and to raise awareness of the issues that affect their lives.
Collective advocacy plays a part in combating stigma, providing support networks and increasing opportunities for people to take part in the planning and development of local services.
CAPS believes that the most effective services:
- are designed to meet the needs of the people who use them
- are based on partnership between all stakeholders
- involve people who use services in decision making and management
- involve people who use services in evaluating those services
- involve people who use services in training staff that provide the services
